The Cheveley Community Plan, developed during 2015 and published in 2016, contained an action to carry out a feasibility study on the development of a village hall in Cheveley village with ancillary leisure facilities.

Cambridge ACRE were commissioned to undertake this study in June 2017 and it was finalised in November 2017.

The Parish Council were particularly keen that the study should consider whether one of the existing community facilities, Cheveley Pavilion, would be suitable for redevelopment or extension.

This Stage 1 Report summarises the first stage work which began in July 2017 and concluded in early October 2017 when a formal presentation was made to the Parish Council. An amendment was made to the conclusion of the study and this final Stage 1 report was approved by Councillors in November 2017.

This report contains feedback from current community groups within the parish and from the available local spaces which are current being rented by community groups or are available for rental and a comparison of space, cost and finances and usage.

Some ideas as to the re-development of the building re included in the study, including an expansion of the current space and an extension for sports focused facilities.

Next steps will be a wider public consultation as to the type of facility parishioners would like to see developed, business plans for different types of facilities, including ideas for cost of running, marketing, management and maintenance of the building, etc.
