Seven Councillors were present along with our Clerk, Mrs Sally Hughes.

The minutes of the Annual Parish Council meeting held on Tuesday 13th May 2025 were duly passed and signed by the Chair.

We were joined by District Councillors Alan Sharp and James Lay and County Councillor, Jonny Edge. Two members of the public were present.

The usual number of financial transactions were checked and approved along with the annual review of subscriptions and direct debits paid by the Council.

Consideration was given as to the overall condition of the War Memorial located outside St Mary’s Church as there is now a need to implement some repairs to the stonework due to weathering. A quotation for repairs will be required for consideration.

The Council Notice Board located outside the Village Shop/Stores has now been removed to the bus shelter beside the Red Lion.

Cheveley Parish Hall bookings and accounts were reviewed for the end of the financial year which proved most satisfactory.

Another quotation is required to address the damp in one corner of the Parish Hall along with the building of a retaining wall at the rear of the building.

Consideration was given to making the defibrillator at the Parish Hall easier to access to save time in an emergency.

The council considered adding a name sign to the Parish Hall and options will be reviewed at the next meeting.

A meeting of the Cheveley Pavilion and Recreation Ground Charity was also held the same evening.

Cheveley Parish Councillors are Trustees of the Charity.

The minutes of the previous meeting held on Tuesday 13th May 2025 were duly passed and signed by the Chair.

Payments and receipts were duly noted.

Suitable builders had provided quotations to provide accessibility access to the Pavilion which will now be considered for this facility.

It was agreed that work on the second half of the Recreation Wall will start, continuing on from the first part, completed last year as planned.

Following an inspection of the playground equipment it was decided to carry out any refurbishment work after the school holidays.

It was noted that travellers had been evicted by the Police well within 24 hours of arriving, due to a quick response from the Clerk and Councillors and at no cost to the Parish Council.  The Council will consider further advice from a suitable security company as to any future steps to be taken to secure entry onto the Recreation Ground.

The future date of both the meetings above will be on Tuesday 8th July 2025.
